Week Ending 9th September 2017

Hi reader,

Game Day Courtesy - unfortunately a number of players nominated but didn’t turn up on Wednesday and didn’t notify the club causing considerable angst and chaos for our Starters in re-organising playing groups.

In future, if you nominate but then can’t make it, please have the courtesy to make a quick phone call to Cooroy Golf Club or send an email well in advance to our Captain, Grant Smallacombe or Secretary, Rod Booth.

We also remind players that you are encouraged to register 30 minutes (that’s THIRTY, not THREE ) before your tee time.  In future, if you are not registered 15 minutes before your tee time your spot in the playing group will not be guaranteed.  You will then need to wait until a spot becomes available later in the field.  If you are running late make a quick phone call.  Serial offenders won't be guaranteed a game at all!

Now that's out of the way back to what we are all about which is enjoying a day at golf.

Wednesday - with excellent scores recorded in all Grades the dry, dusty conditions with lots of run didn't seem to present a problem; perhaps players concentrated harder! The conditions certainly didn't trouble Rod Harper who recorded a very good nett 60 to win C Grade.  Rod also tied for third place for Best Gross with 83 and won a bottle of wine in the Lucky Draw to celebrate.  Peter Kennedy took out Best Gross with 76 followed by Peter Buchbach with 77.

Thanks to John Madill Toyota for their long time sponsorship of our Monthly Medal events.  If you are looking for a new or used car give Madill's a call.

The on line nomination facility for our Host Day visit to Caloundra on Friday, 29th September, is now open.  Nominations close on Wednesday, 20th September so don't delay nominating.

The Vets committee has approved funding support for 18th Tee Project.  In addition to bridge replacement, the project will include concrete paving, Tee levelling, landscaping and gardens.   As you will have noticed the Project is underway.

Rumour has it that Grant Smallacombe and His Associates will be getting together again to work on this project, so the 'associates' will have the opportunity to use their newly acquired skills - more shortly.

And finally, this email is intended as an easy reading high-level wrap of events for the week.  If, for example, you want to see full results for a competition, then you need to click on 'Read more' in the Post below.  You can also directly access these Posts on the club website.
