Week Ending 2nd September 2017

Hi reader,

Fair Play  The expectation that players abide by the Rules of Golf and fair play is taken seriously by the Vets Committee.   With this in mind, our Captain, Grant has written to individual Vets members explaining some basic rules and reminding them of their responsibility as a marker of a score card in a competition.

This letter is reproduced in the Post below.  Any questions or clarifications should be referred to Grant or Vice Captain, Jim Henderson.

2017 District Vets Championship  A large contingent from Cooroy ventured to Mt Coolum for the 2017 District Championship on Monday but with little in return by way of results. From all accounts the course played tough!  Doug Conn from Maroochy River took out the title of District Champion with 82.  District President, Arthur Egan from Nambour took out runner up with 85.

Wednesday: The Lavender Team of Brad Lavender, Rex Williams, Bob Read and Rob Powell played well as a team to claim first place in the 4 Man Ambrose with 53½ on a very dry and dusty track.

Keith Harkins and Paul O'Hare presented the prizes on behalf of the sponsors, The Golf Tragics (Kevin Crundall, Rod Booth, Joe Daniels, Keith Harkins, Graham Laing, Paul O'Hare, Ian Mulhall, Jim Turnbull).  Keith stepped back and then forward again to present himself and team mates, Brian Stephen, Allan Barton and, an unusually subdued, Con Russell, with the prize for 3rd place.  Unfortunately there wasn't time for Paul to perform his famous Irish Jig - maybe at our Xmas lunch!

We capped the day off nicely with a Thai lunch catered by our NTP sponsors, Thai Tong Restaurant, Yandina.  Thanks Tanju.
