Hi reader,

Next Wednesday, 22nd February, is a Marty’s Hut compulsory stop day for a free hamburger and drink.  We are looking for volunteer BBQ cooks.  Let Grant or Rod know if you can assist.

Welcome aboard to new member Joe DanielsJoe joined us for his first game on Wednesday.

Cooroy fielded nine teams in a full field of 60 teams for the inaugural District Vets Two-Ball Aggregate Stableford at Maroochy River.  Teams from Pelican Waters took out first and second place with the Cooroy Team of Greg Michael and Peter Piggott taking 3rd place. Four Cooroy Teams also featured in the run-down; Dale Rickard and Terry Lyons, Ray Nolan and Brian Clemow, Jim Henderson and Rod Booth, Andrew Dick and Peter Fryer.  Well done - a good day all round.

We hosted 29 Gympie Vets on Monday with Jeff Hodgson (G) taking out A GradeKerry Martin and Glen Johnstone took out B and C Grade respectively. Congratulations to Ray Rigbye from Gympie for an Eagle on the 16th

The Red Course day on Wednesday again proved interesting with its challenge of club selection.  It didn't seem to present too much of a challenge for Keith Harkins though, scoring an impressive 46 points.  In Keith's words, even his bad shots ended up in a good place.  Don Pigdon also shone with a handy 44 points.

We have introduced a new longevity award recognising active playing participation with the Vets of at least 25 years.  You must be a current playing member of Cooroy Vets to qualify.

We are pleased to recognise Lionel Willett with 32 years and Mike Miklenda with 26 years.  Recognition takes the form of an embroidered gold coloured golf shirt.  When you consider that you must be 55 years or older to join the Vets, reaching this sort of milestone is quite an achievement.

In an attempt to alleviate the congestion and waiting that occurs on the course from time to time we are trialling 8-minute tee intervals on timed start days.  The starter will call groups to the 1st Tee.  To give the trial a fair go, we ask groups not to tee off until their designated tee time.

As Tin Can Bay have a limited number of hire-carts, don't delay booking if you are nominating for this visit.  Click on the following link to nominate.
