Week Ending 22nd October 2016

Hi reader,

Membership

Welcome to new member Keith Harkins who joined us for his first game with the Vets on Wednesday.  Please make him feel welcome.

4 Person Ambrose

A field of 56 enjoyed great weather, excellent company and some good golf last Tuesday for a 4 Person Ambrose jointly hosted by Cooroy Women and Cooroy Vets.

As usual the ladies provided a great morning tea with Vets Captain Grant kindly sponsoring prizes.  Thank you.

Wendy O'Hare, Colleen Sykes and Grant Smallacombe took out the main prize with a 4 under the card 32 nett 26? from the Juanita Langford, Susie Thompson, Paul O'Hare and Rod Booth with 36 nett 29?.

Wendy O'Hare showed the way for her team on Hole 1 with her drive and then an 'eagle' from 102m.

The O'Hare's had a very good day at golf!

2016 VETS Championship

The first round of the 2016 Championship kicked off on Wednesday with some pretty hot scores.  None hotter than Bob Noble with a nett 53 which sets a new benchmark.  We have a Stableford benchmark called a Mike Smith - 55 points.  We now have a Stroke benchmark called a "Bob Noble - 53".

Rumour has it Terry Wilson managed a golf version of the old tablecloth trick with his drive on the 13th on Wednesday. Terry hit his tee 5 metres leaving his ball in exactly on the same spot.

Congratulations to Ray Lally for an Eagle on the 13th.

Round 2 of the Championship will be played on Wednesday 26th October in conjunction with the November Monthly medal.  It is an 8:00am shot gun start.

Hosting WOODFORD at Cooroy

The visit to Cooroy by Woodford on 7th November has been rescheduled to Monday, 12th December 2016 as Woodford have double booked themselves.  A new Nomination Sheet will be available in the club house shortly.

Visit to MALENY Golf Club

Recently a few of us visited the new course at Maleny.  We all enjoyed the course so we thought we would organise another visit to play in their Tuesday seniors/vets day.  The planned date is Tuesday, 15th November.  The course is built on an old dairy farm among rolling hills and is very picturesque with 9 holes which you play twice.  A 2nd 9 is currently under development.

The cost will be $30.00 per player which includes competition and green fees and share cart. There is a limitation on cart availability so we need to know numbers interested pretty quickly.

More details will be provided separately with an on-line nomination facility.
