Hi reader,
I wish to advise of my interim appointment as President of the Cooroy Golf Club.

The golf club requires a President to operate, it also requires 5 of the 8 management committee members to form a quorum, without which we could not hold any meetings or make decisions. We are now down to 5 and need to find replacements. The Secretary’s position is also an important one and Andrew Dick who has previous experience has taken on this role until we have a replacement.

The Management Committee has resolved to spill the existing committee and call an SGM to elect a new committee. All positions will become vacant, and eligible financial members will have their say by electing who they think may be the best candidates for the future of the Club. The committee feels that due to the current unrest in the club, this is the best and fairest option.

Calling this SGM meeting is not in response to the petition by members which the Management Committee rightly rejected as defective.

It is impossible to manage the club in the current environment. An SGM to clear the decks (spill the committee) and elect a new committee is seen by the current committee as the best way to move forward and get back to managing the club.

All positions will become vacant so there is nothing to stop existing committee members or a recently resigned committee member from nominating. These positions will only be held until the next AGM in November when the normal election process will take place.

We have engaged the CPR Group (involved in the rewrite of our Constitution at the recommendation of Golf Australia) to provide independent advice and facilitation of the SGM.

A Notice of Meeting and Nomination Form are attached to this communication and will be available in the clubhouse and posted on the website.

Regards
