What is nice about being a veteran golfer is you can’t remember your bad shots

WEDNESDAY
The impact of COVID-19 has seen rounds played this year down 452 on last year. The good news is, however, that field numbers are up considerably. Our average field this year is running at 88 compared to 75 in 2019 for the same period - a great result. Thank you for your support.
|
On Wednesday a field of 99 enjoyed a 2 Man Aggregate Stableford with five visitors joining us, four from Gainsborough Golf Club at Pimpama on the Gold Coast. Although the Gainsborough boys didn't win anything, the feedback was that they enjoyed the course and the day with Cooroy Vets.

|
Thanks to Graeme 'Ossie' Osborne for sponsoring the event.
|
Tom Williams and Derek Clayton scored a convincing win with 73 from Tony Hayes and Derek Wood 68 and Brian Clemow and Tony Foster 66 on countback.
Ian Mulhall (picture) did a Peter Kennedy on the 9th without getting quite as wet and, left handed!
|
Next week is the annual Internationals vs Aussie challenge. Team members will be displayed on the whiteboard so they can consult with their team captain on the game plan. Although, in past years these game plans have been so highly classified and secret that no one knew about them!
'International All Stars' skippered by Jim (Irish) Henderson 'True Blue Aussies' skippered by Dave Lyons 'Aussie Attack' skippered by Grant Smallacombe

HUMOUR
A veteran golfer is on the operating table awaiting surgery after insisting that his son, a renowned surgeon, perform the operation. As he is about to go under he asked to speak to his son.
|
"Don't be nervous, son; do your best, and just remember, if it doesn't go well, if something happens to me, your mother is going to come and live with you and your wife...."
