Week ending 25th August 2018

Hi reader,
2018 08 20 - Noosa

After a cold start the ‘men in green’ fired up leaving nothing on the table for Noosa, not even a NTP.

Bruce Hallett (Noosa) did, however, eagle the 8th collecting 6 golf balls.

A Grade - Geoff Pembroke 41 on c/b from Bob Noble.

B Grade
- Grant Smallacombe 36 from John Cairns 35.

C Grade
- John Kelly 40 from Paul O'Hare 39.
Golf - that does look like very good exercise but what is the little white ball for?

Caloundra has published Tee times for the Sunshine Coast District Veteran Golfers Association Championship on Monday, 27th August - click button.

It’s a tough day at the office when you need a 4 at the beginning of your score to even be a chance of placing in a grade. It looks like everyone is hitting form at the right time with our championships coming up.

A Grade - Bruce McLean 42
B Grade - Jason Egan 43
C Grade - Andre Smit 43

Tom Murphy followed his excellent 43 last week with another good score of 41 but this week it was only good enough to win a ball in the rundown. Tom did however pick up a NTP on the 12th.

Peregian Springs is back on our event calendar. We visit on Monday, 10th September. The nomination sheet is available in the clubhouse (on table or Vets noticeboard).
  • 8:30 am shotgun start. Register by 8:00am.
  • Entry fee $50 which includes competition fee, cart hire and lunch.
  • No private carts or walkers allowed.

We kick off round 1of the 2018 Vets Championship on Wednesday, 5th September. Round 2 will be played on Wednesday, 12th September. Your round 1 handicap will be used for both rounds.

The Vets Championship is open to financial members of Cooroy Veterans’ Golf Club only. To be eligible a member must have played in at least six 18 hole single events run under the auspices of Cooroy Veterans’ Golf Club at Cooroy Golf Course during 2018. Three of the six events must have been played in the Cooroy Vets weekly Wednesday competition.

The titles on offer are:
Handicap Champion - player with lowest net score across all grades.
Grade Champions - player with the lowest gross score in each grade (A Grade 0-18, B Grade 19-25, C Grade 26-36).

Players not eligible for the championship are welcome play and compete for daily prizes.

A reminder that we change to summer start times from 1st September with time starts from 6:30 am. Shotgun starts continue at 8:00 am unless otherwise advised.

Seems odd to be talking about Summer with the current chilly mornings and nights!
