Week ending 11th August 2018

Hi reader,
Golf is an awkward set of bodily contortions designed to produce a graceful result.

Grant has indicated he is quite overwhelmed by the support of our members in response to the erred shirt order - it shows what a great club we have. Thank you for demonstrating your appreciation for the huge contribution Grant makes to the success of Cooroy Vets.

Grant revealed this morning that he only advised his wife of his error last night as it is one thing admitting a mistake to the whole golf club, but the last thing you want to do is to admit you’ve made a mistake to your wife.

2018 08 - Old Course Challenge
Highlights of Wednesday Stableford: Greg Michael takes A Grade prize with 46 and a return to form saw Rob Nash take B Grade with 41. The 'old fox', Lionel Willett, proved he can still mix it with the youngsters by taking out C Grade with 42.

Congratulations to Greg Michael (picture 1). A blistering round of 46 added to 20 from Round 1 saw Greg take out the 2018 Old Course Challenge. Greg gets to display the trophy on his mantle-piece for 12 months.

Old Course Challenge placings:
Tony Hayes 22 + 18 - 40
John O'Donoghue 21 + 19 - 40
Graham Laing 20 + 19 - 39
Paul O'Hare 21 + 18 - 39
Ron Blount 20 + 19 - 39

Our thanks to foundation members, Lionel Willett and Ed Otto for sponsoring the day. Unfortunately Ed was not up to coming along to present the trophy.

Why does the NTP prize for the 13th carry the title 'Strawberries for Pigs'? One of our key sponsors, smallPRINT Australia Pty Ltd, agreed to add a NTP sponsorship by donating a 3pack of Titleist ProV1s. When it was announced, one of our members, who shall remain anonymous, commented that handing out ProV1 golf balls to veteran golfers was like feeding strawberries to pigs - the name stuck!

Welcome aboard to Peter Palmer (picture 3).

We have a new leader. Mike Kent has used his super powers to gain top spot. He now leads Grant Smallacombe by 2 points. Tony Foster retains 3rd place only 2 points further back.

Ron Blount and Rex Williams, who have each played one less game than the current leaders, threaten to take over the top spots next week.
