Hi reader,
2019 St Patricks Day Montag

WEDNESDAY WRAP

A very hot and humid St Patrick's Day saw a clubhouse alive with green and orange, Irish whisky, Baileys, green golf balls, affordable Guinness and Leprechauns lurking everywhere. A great atmosphere with the crowd entertained with Irish jokes and Paul O'Hare performing his famous Irish jig. Paul doesn't need much encouragement these days.

Thanks to our sponsors 'The Leprechauns' aka Jim Henderson, Steve Howes, Terry Lyons, Terry Magill, Rob Powell and Bob Read.

There was a suggestion for next year that, as it is an Irish game, the worst score wins, there should be a runup rather than a rundown and free Guinness for everyone - well it was almost free this year at $4.00 a can.

And we did play golf - highlights of the day: The Loe Team of Michael, Ossie Osborne, Andrew Dick and Tony Kershaw took out the event with 104 points on a count back from the Read Team of Bob, Rob Powell, Rex Williams and Brad Lavender. Third place went to the Beckhaus Team of Dennis, Andy Stewart, Rudy Agerbeek and Glen Johnstone.

Con Russell made welcome return to golf after a major operation - the place has been a bit quiet lately with not much happening! Rumour has it that he told theater staff not to bother with anesthetic. Five hours after the operation Con was up doing exercises sending hospital staff into panic trying to slow him down.

In typical fashion Terry Lyons made a successful return to golf after loosing a large part of his foot in a traffic accident winning 4 cans of Guinness for the NTP on the 4th and as a member of a team making the rundown.

Great to see Ian (Lumpy) Lumsden return to playing with the Vets.

The member sponsor team of Terry McCulloch and Grant Smallacombe will henceforth be known as ‘The Shankers’. They decided against a similar sounding name.

VISIT TO TIN CAN BAY - RESULTS

A very hot but enjoyable day at Tin Can Bay on Tuesday. Unfortunately Bob Atkin had a fall in the clubhouse but we understand he is okay.

Andy Stewart picked up 3rd place in A grade with 42 points and 4 NTP's.

Balls in rundown went to Bob Read, Geoff Cowan, Grant Smallacombe, John Cairns, Dave Lyons and Greg Flanagan.

Raffle winners: Greg Flanagan, Bob Atkin, Michael Loe.
