VETS: Week ending 20th February 2016

NTP SPONSORS

Jimmy (aka Irish) excelled himself again on Wednesday producing great hamburgers with ingredients supplied by our NTP sponsors .  If you want to make burgers as good at home drop in and see our sponsors for supplies and have a quiet word to Jimmy about his cooking technique

CAPTAIN’s CORNER

After three host day events, Don Clelland (right in photo with Grant & Jimmy) has a slender lead in the 2016 “Jim Penman Host Day Trophy”.

Hosting Gympie 3With 9 away and 6 home games remaining, there is still plenty of time to mount a challenge. To qualify for one of the 10 prizes on offer you only have to play in 4 home and 5 away games for the year. Your total points will come from your best 10 scores for the year.

Some huge scores on Wednesday and the best was from 17 handicapper Rex Williams who carded a 4 over 74 off the stick, and recorded 49 Stableford points.  Also great to see new member Brian Clemow amongst the winners with 41 points to finish 2nd in A-Grade.

I trust everyone enjoyed their free hamburger and drink.  Once again a magnificent effort by Seamus Mac Ainreis (better known to you as Jim Henderson). The burgers were very nice and one must ask, “was it Jim’s fine cooking, or should we put it down to the new BBQ that was kindly donated by Ken McKay.”

Unfortunately our VIP guest “Marty” could not attend the free hamburger and drink at the building that has been named in his honor.

Marty’s failing eyesight has him relocating to a home on the Gold Coast where he can be looked after and be closer to his family.  Marty has been a very valuable member of the Cooroy Golf Club and although I didn’t get to play much golf with him, I did get to see the mighty effort he put in over the years ensuring that we all had access to drinks etc. out on the golf course.

By the way we had 90 in the field on Wednesday so we are on target to break through the 100 barrier on St. Patrick’s Day 2016.  Keep Wednesday the 16th March free to play golf and get into the Irish spirit by wearing something “GREEN”.  We promise to put something on to make your attendance worthwhile.
