CAPTAIN’s CORNER
We have quite a few players away at the moment, but we still managed to send 28 to Headland on Monday.
Due to over 100mm of rain the night before the course was a bit damp in places but otherwise we were treated to lush fairways and very well maintained greens. The club is renovating their Pro-shop at the moment, I was taken for a tour and the finished result should be very impressive.
Our star players were Rex Williams with 43 points, Rod Harper and Brad Lavender with 38 points, and Peter Piggott with 37 points.

Wednesday’s Stableford was also played in heavy conditions, and scores were much lower than we have been used to. Great effort by Tony Kershaw who finished with 41 points.
It pays to keep your eye on your ball. I played my 2nd shot into the green on the 9th hole. I looked up but could not pick the flight of my ball. I asked the 3 others in our group if they had seen it, and much to my embarrassment was told by Ray Nolan that it was still where it was before I had made my stroke.
Not to be outdone by me, Tom Murphy was that impressed with his 39 points, that he took his card home in his pocket and therefore had to be disqualified.
