Vets – NEWSLETTER week ending 25th October 2014

CAPTAIN’s CORNER

All player’s who attended Tuesday’s 9 hole invitation by the ladies seemed to really enjoy the event, the ladies put on a well organized event and the morning tea after the game will be hard to match when we play host next year.

Great reports received for our 1st Marty’s Hut Compulsory Stop Event. It was a pity that Marty (picture) could not attend as he is back in hospital again.

Excellent job done by our Chefs of the day in, Jim Henderson and Graham Laing.

SPEED OF PLAY REPORT –  No complaints this week which is good to see.   Just for the record our quickest round was understandably by the 1st group out who completed their round in 3hrs 30mins, the slowest round for the day was 4hrs 10mins which is very good considering we all had the stop at Marty’s Hut.

Next week is the 1st week of our Vets Championship, good luck to all players.  Bob Watson will be our official photographer for this event, so make sure you smile if you see him close by.

HEALTH FORUM

Although there hasn’t been direct feedback we assume members found this initiative helpful with the first article published earlier this month in our Newsletter.

Whilst the intention is to publish Health Forum articles about once a month the message in HF No 2 is considered of such importance that we could not delay passing it on to members.  The article was received from an anonymous author interested in the well being of members.

If you would like to contribute speak to Mike Smith or Rod.

FIRST DRINK WITH MY SON

I was reading an article last night about fathers and sons and memories came flooding back of the time I took my son out for his first schooner.

Off we went to our local pub, which is only two blocks from the house.

I got him a Guinness. He didn’t like it – so I drank it.

Then I got him a Tooheys, he didn’t like it, so I drank it.

It was the same with the XXXX and the VB.

By the time we got down to the whiskey,

I could hardly push the stroller back home.
